Under the current law, records regarding the issuance of Permits to Carry Weapons are open to the public for inspection and publishing in public places, such as newspapers or magazines.  Iowa Carry believes that it is dangerous to permit holders to have their information posted in public forums such as newspapers, because it allows anyone - including criminals - to see who potentially owns a firearm, this making the permit holder a target of a burglary or robbery.

Iowa Carry agrees that the list of permit holders should be available for inspection to ensure that the system is working the way it should, but we are adamantly opposed to the publishing of such a list, and our legislation will make it illegal to post these kinds of lists.
