Do you have an Iowa driver's license? Can you cross the state line and continue to drive in the other 49 states with that license?
A Permit to Carry Weapons should work the same way. Our PCW should be recognized in other states, and we should recognize the permits issued by other states. Currently, the Iowa PCW is recognized in 14 other states, and Iowa recognizes NO permit from any other state.
This is wrong. Our neighbor to the south, Missouri, recognizes the permit of every other state. It works fine for them. It can (and should) work fine for Iowa as well.
Creating a uniform system of training and issuance would satisfy the requirements of other states, and would allow them to recognize an Iowa PCW. Many citizens of Iowa obtain permits from states such as Utah, Florida, and New Hampshire in order to gain the ability to legally carry a firearm in other states. If more states recognized Iowa's PCW, there would be less of a need for this to take place, and that money could stay in Iowa instead.
