Our cause is simple.
Iowa Carry exists for the purpose of bringing a fair system of Shall Issue and training to the Iowa Permit to Carry Weapons program. We also want to see more states honor the Iowa Permit to Carry Weapons, and we want to see Iowa recognize permits from other states.
As we work with the system to create a law that is fair to all citizens, these are the five core values that are important to us and drive our actions:
Shall Issue
Standardized Training
Appeal Process for Denials
Enhanced Reciprocity
Privacy of Records
It would be fantastic to have a system similar to what is in place in Alaska and Vermont. In both of those states, a permit is not required in order to carry a firearm. Iowa Carry understands that while this is a "perfect" solution, it is not one that is easily obtained. Our gun rights were not taken away from us all at once, and we will not be able to win them back all at once. We advocate a more moderate, common sense approach, winning back our rights one step at a time.
With the help of intelligent legislators who understand the problem and want to effect a change, and dedicated members who want to bring fairness and equality back into the ability to defend one's self and family outside of the home, we will accomplish this task.
